You’ve heard the whys and the wherefores, the whats and the whos. Now it’s the big one…
‘What do you eat?’ Ask any vegetarian that question and they’ll either look at you in astonishment or laugh out loud.
If you’re not yet veggie, what do you eat at the moment? Pies and pasties, bangers and burgers, nuggets and nachos, rashers and roasts, fingers and fillets, chilli and chop suey, hot dogs and haggis, curry and cold cuts? Well, that’s precisely what veggies eat, too but without a trace of dead animal in them - plus a whole variety of other delectables. There are so many tasty, affordable, easy-to-prepare veggie foods available, you’ll be speechless - not from shock but from cramming them into your mouth.
Pop to your local supermarket, health food shop or corner shop and go wild in the aisles! Look for the ‘Suitable for Vegetarians’ (or vegans) logo - which could be in words, a green V or a picture of a leaf.
We can’t hold your hand around the supermarket but we can point you in the right direction. For more information, get the L Plate Vegetarian - a 36 page guide for learner veggies. Also available is the L Plate Vegan. Read them free online at www.viva.org.uk, or in hard-copy for £1 (plus 50p p&p) each.
